With anticipation surrounding the premiere of the Hunger Games movie, a social media game has been created that goes along with the movie, which allows fans to explore the world of Panem, where the movie is set. In addition, the fans will be able to interact with the characters through the game and the parts of the map will be released over time. While this has to do with social media, this game shows another way for fans to get a preview of the movie before it comes out. I think this is important because it could provide a direction to where the film industry might be headed when marketing their film. Getting fans to interact with the game such as this becomes a priority because there has been much hype surround this film and the studio wants to be able to get large box office numbers when it premieres, especially since it has a key demographic (teenagers) that has made hits out of other book series such as Harry Potter and Twilight. A lot of pressure is put on Lionsgate as the Hunger Games has the potential to make the studios large sums and the option to produce sequels. I anticipate with the premiere coming closer, there will be more articles on the film, which will only add more hype and pressure to those who are a part of making this film.
By: Alexis Rangel How will China’s film industry impact the Hollywood Film Industry? I felt this article was extremely important because Hollywood is always looking for the next big thing and I feel that if China’s government does push for more exports then we could possibly see some changes/influences in our own industry. This could make for some great technological innovations within the film industry. I also found it interesting that China’s ruling Communist Party were the ones to specifically “set out guidelines aimed at making the cultural and entertainment industry a ‘pillar of the national economy,’”(Variety, Coonan). I guess we will just have to wait and see!
