Increasingly, payment via mobile device is becoming a popular form of money transaction for large companies and small businesses alike. Now, the White House, itself, has turned to this technology to aid collection of campaign contributions.
The Obama campaign commitee has confirmed that representatives will have phones equipped with Square's product during the months leading up to November's election day. Square produces readers that easily attach to smartphones. After the device is attached and an app is downloaded, any individual can begin taking payments via mobile transfer. The ease with which Square installs and operates made it one of the better options over other mobile payment products. Goggle Wallet, for example, requires a specific phone and equipment not readily stocked in stores in order to operate.
This move could potentially greatly influence the amount of donations received by the Obama campaign. By utilizing card-readers, first-time donors as well as those who wish to contribute smaller amounts will likely be more accessible.

Nokia Lumia 800
Nokia Lumia 900
Description:
As of now, Nokia is working on a Windows Phone model that uses NFC (Near Field Communications) technology to connect to accessories such as Bluetooth and even attempt wireless charging. Absolutely, mobile media has come a long way from connecting a charger to a cell phone and pulling it into an outlet. Eventually, cell phones like the new versions of Nokia Lumia 800 or 900 will be able to charge wirelessly and instantaneously connect to accessories like Bluetooth without a password. In terms of changes, the Nokia Company is now working closely with Microsoft in creating the state of the art software for its smartphones. In order to make way for the future, Nokia wants to increase economic distribution and consumption practices by upgrading their phones with Microsoft software so that consumers can feel they are purchasing a great product. Definitely, Nokia is making progress in mobile media by setting up NFCs on their smartphones that will make it faster to connect to devices such as Bluetooth, speakers, and headsets. The company hopes by October 2012 that they will ship out new versions of Windows Phone Lumia model 800 and 900.

The Blackberry, Trying to Avoid the Hall of Fallen Giants By Sam Grobart and Ian Austen Article
I was bit upset when Prof. Arceneaux mentioned that Blackberry (RIM) is on its way out. I love Blackberry and felt that it was my Blackberry User's duty to read about this.
This article is important to consider because it reminds us that even the most popular of devices can experience a collapse. Remember pagers? Walkmen? Atari? Where are they now? They’re all in our garages collecting dust.
Blackberry is still fighting to avoid being like those “fallen titans”. Hopefully they’re new operating system (coming out this year) will keep up with the iPhones and Androids. Also, if all else fails, they must keep (an iron grip) on their key consumers: corporate and business consumers. I have my fingers crossed for you Blackberry!
Do you consider yourself a gamer? Do you like to play laser tag? If you answered yes to either of the questions, now you can have that combating experience on your smartphone using the Xappr Gun. This latest accessory was designed to be connected to Android, iOS and Windows smartphones in order to grasp a large amount of smartphone users. The accessory looks just like that laser gun that you use at UltraZone and can be transported anywhere as long as its plugged into your smartphone. You can have player-to-player battles, just like the traditional laser tag which dismantles the traditional gaming consoles. Who wants to play?
The idea of being able to play such an interactive game on your cell phone seems a bit outrageous, but it is interesting to the witness the transition of traditional gaming. Even the idea of the Words with Friends or Angry Birds seems lame compared to this. As the sale for traditional gaming consoles continue to decline, mobile phones have reached a new all-time high enhancing the gaming world with new gaming accessories. How great is that? You no longer have to play those boring app games or spend $8 a game at UltraZone, just pay a one time fee of $40-$50 and you're set until technology finds a way to outdo itself. The device is set to debut in June. Gamers get hype!

Facebook May Not Be Into Mobile Ads Yet, But Plenty
Mobile advertising networks have projected that mobile advertising has increased in revenue, ad clicks, and ad requests. While platforms such as Apple, Android, Blackberry, and even Google are embracing the concept of mobile advertising, Facebook has not yet joined the pack. I found this surprising after reading this article that a leading social media platform such as Facebook would not participate in such a profitable market. According to the article by Ingrid Lunden, currently the largest revenue generator in mobile advertising is mobile search. In 2011, $2.5 billion in revenue was generated and it is estimated that this year the revenue generated will double to approximately $5.8 billion.
Last year, Facebook made just under double the revenue generated through mobile advertising in 2011 on their main page. The article did not say if Facebook plans on adopting mobile advertising, but one has to wonder with billions of dollars being generated when the social media company that just went public a few days ago will adopt this method. Personally, I find mobile advertising to be extremely bothersome when trying to access content; however, from a business perspective I can see why mobile advertising is on the rise. Mobile advertising is a more efficient version of direct mail, and with the increase of smartphone and tablet users it is easy to see why more companies are jumping on the bandwagon.

Setting the Standard for Hotel Mobile Apps, LodgeNet Launches App to Connect Hotels with Travelers By: LodgeNet Interactive Corporation
Original Article In this “now generation”, we are seeing the standards for efficiency for our everyday situations rising rapidly. Among the many new media tools, our society is increasingly depending on mobile media to lead a more efficient life. Industries of many products and services scramble to keep up with competitors in this flourishing area of commerce. Planning and booking flights, finding hotels are two things we know are made easier by using mobile apps on a smart phone, but vacation and business trip experiences could always be a little less stressful. One corporation has recognized exactly what the hospitality industry has been lacking, and has recently set a new standard for Hotel guest services. Lodgenet Interactive Corporation has taken initiative to further ease your travels with the launch of the hotel’s industries first mobile app that puts “guest entertainment, hotel services, and local area guide information” into the palm of your hand. Everything from ordering room service, to controlling the TV, to checking out can be done at your convenience on your personal smart phone. Lodgenet is offering hotels and businesses the ability to customize this app with logos and preferences unique to the businesses in order to maintain brand consistency with original marketing efforts. In my opinion, this innovative extension to the hotel industry will quickly trend across the globe. Those hotels who fail to jump on the bandwagon, may fall short of customers who will increasingly prefer to invest in companies who are making efforts to better their traveling experiences. To hotel guests, it it the smallest of gestures that make the greatest difference. There is always room for improvement in this industry, and Lodgenet has officially redefined the standard for complete “customer satisfaction”. Posted By: Julie Bell
