In recent years, more and more advance social technologies provide a broader and more convenient stage for us to enrich ourselves. Most people begin to feel unsatisfied with what they have and know from their own countries; and they are curious about the outside world. Indeed, have you ever doubt whether what you feel or learned from the book and from school are completely correct about the other countries? Have you dreamed to expand your reputation and share what you have worldwide? Have you ever wanted to make money not only from your country but worldwide? This article introduces the most popular and effective way to get in touch with the entire world. In academic aspect, worldwide teachers can collaborate in an easier approach by video conferencing from Skype, Google+ and Facebook. Social Media Has Turned Super Bowl XLVI Teams' Marketing Upside Down
By: William Prickett
Every year the Super Bowl comes around with new television commercials and marketing. This year however, part of that marketing has switched to social networking. According to the article, "When the Giants and Patriots reached the Super Bowl in 2008, Twitter barely existed, Facebook had less than 100 million users, and Google+ wasn't even a glean in Larry Page's eye." Now there are almost 850 million Facebook users and Twitter has become an important part of sports and news. Thanks to social networking, the two teams were able to do so much more for the fans than they could just four years ago. This year, the Patriots decided to run a contest to give away trips to the Super Bowl. The ability to post something up on a Facebook and a day later have a thousand comments on it, give companies and teams the ability to connect to their fans or consumers. The Giants installed a button on their team website that allowed fans to follow a bulk of the players on Twitter in just one click, making them easily accessible. The Giants team is even hosting a social media night in which the players get to interact with the fans who could post comments and questions to the players and have them respond while in the hotel room. Thanks to social networking, the relationship between the consumer or fan to the business is becoming more personal. This article shows that just in a small amount of time has our technology changed to make us even more connected. It also shows us that new media in the form of social networking is creating changes in the way companies market themselves and connect to the audience.
By now I am sure everyone has heard the news of the major bombshell dropped by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. Facebook announced it would be a public corporation filing for the largest IPO ever at $5 million. At the root of the expansion, as with anything, is money. Facebook wants to expand and improve their company and more accessible to lager communities, and to do this, they need money. Despite being one of the most successful private companies of all time, the public change will fuel Facebooks global reach. But how will this change Facebook? There will not be any immediate changes (besides the dreaded timeline) that we will see.
However, before looking towards the future, we can take a case from the past. When Google announced it would go public, it used a simple catch phrase to depict their general ideal for the future, “Don’t be evil.” Google came in as everyone’s friend in the new digital age, but has recently come under fire with the questions of ethics. Google has expanded beyond reaches anyone ever thought was possible and it started when they became public. Will Facebook follow? It is very likely, and with the 207-page government document, it was nearly cemented. The words “technological competition” were used frequently enough to raise suspicion of other motives while becoming a public entity. Technology is expanding almost daily and Facebook is simply taking advantage of opportunities. There have been countless number of companies (SONY, Nokia) that have lost out on the technology race. If we have learned anything from Google, Facebook, and Amazon, we know the giants of technology will not get lost in the shuffle.
Social Networking sites like Twitter, have connected the world together, especially those in Journalism or Marketing. Due to the emergence of the Iphone, so-called “tweeters,” are able to personalize they’re specific tweets with the usage of certain applications on their phone. These new applications are primarily used to organize Twitter accounts. The new applications on the Iphone range from a Tweetlist, Flipboard, Boxcar, and Social Dash would mak A Tweetlist is a list of people you interact with on Twitter, where as the applications Flipboard and Boxcar are seemingly more advanced applications on the Iphone. The application Boxcar notifies users when a person they are following makes a tweet, as well as dispersing content into different inboxes. A good way to separate everything on the homepage of Twitter would be using Flipboard. This is just an application that simplifies Twitter, into a basic home screen that allows you to search people, content, etc. The final and maybe the most rewarding application would be SocialDash. This gives users feedback on how they’re specific tweets, which would be beneficial to businessmen. It actually tells you how many people are following you, you’re amount of tweets, the “Buzz” and also amount of clicks. Wasik goes into detail about “buzz,” and the SocialDash gives you actual feedback on your tweet popularity. These applications are perfect for the thousands of users on Twitter because it makes more accessible to the user. Actually, in the 2012 National Football League All Star Game, professional athletes were actually “tweeting,” during the game. This was completely shocking to me, where Billy Wasik depicts how internet and technology is changing culture. I found this utterly shocking because I have never seen an athlete use a cell phone during the game, especially to update a social networking site. It is clearly shown the Twitter is highly recognized amongst the vast population, and will continue to rise in popularity.
